Last term's learning

P3 had a very busy term in the run up to Christmas. We learned about the different types of weather and how this affects our lives and the land around us. We learned about animals and their habitats and food chains. We also took part in the National Book Week celebrations and enjoyed a Family Learning session using our Read, Write, Count bags. Finally, the pupils performed very well during our class assembly, displaying their learning across lots of different areas.

P3 are continuing to enjoy improving their numeracy skills using our new Maths programme and resources

Our current learning

This term will start with our traditional Scottish focus in the lead up to the whole school Burns Supper. We will explore the story of “Greyfriars Bobby” and learn new Scottish poems and songs.

In Social Studies we will focus on Scottish geography and take a closer look at our local area of Kirkintilloch.

During our ‘Money Matters’ project we will be creating board games and learning to solve maths problems with money.

In science we will study Forces, Magnets and Space. Towards the end of the term we will focus on a project about celebrating diversity when we will take a closer look at the traditions and customs of Hinduism.

Class events

Primary 3 will participate in the school Burns Supper and perform the dance of the ‘Military Two Step’ and sing ‘The Three Craws’ Scot’s song.

The winner of our class poetry competition will perform ‘The Sair Finger’ by Walter Wingate.

Primary 3 will be going on a local walk to learn more about the canal as well as a trip to the Science Centre to learn more about Space.

We will be performing our second class assembly in May and look forward to celebrating our learning with family members.

PE

P3 have PE every Tuesday and Thursday. Please remember to bring a full PE kit for both sessions.
